Bristol Palin confesses she got surgery on her jaw in what looks like a procedure to strengthen her chin and cheekbones. Although she claimed it wasn?t cosmetic, she?s not the first celebrity to undergo similar surgery.
The cosmetic procedure is commonly done to strengthen the jaw line by extending the chin, sculpting the neck and adding more prominence to the cheekbones.
Chelsea Clinton and Ivanka Trump, both of whom had very weak, or short, chins, are?among celebrities who are rumored to have undergone similar surgery.
The goal of the surgery is to give the face a longer and thinner appearance. A stronger chin also adds character to the face.
Nonetheless, Palin, 20, insisted the procedure, which she underwent last December, was necessary to realign her jaw.
?It?s not plastic surgery,? Palin insisted to Us magazine. ?I had corrective jaw surgery.?
Since she entered the limelight during mother Sarah Palin?s disastrous vice presidential run in 2008, Bristol has been the butt of a number of body issue jokes.
Comedian Kathy Griffin has lampooned Bristol for her weight, claiming she was the only contestant on ?Dancing With the Stars? to add pounds during the competition.
?I don?t obsess over my face,? says Bristol, who was mercilessly teased in the blogosphere for her double chin and chubby cheeks.
Palin acknowledges that the surgery changed her look.
?Yes, it improved the way I look,? she admits. ?But this surgery was necessary for medical reasons?so my jaw and teeth could properly realign,? says Palin the single mother of 2-year-old son, Tripp.
Palin?s new face looks significantly thinner with an angular jawline and higher cheekbones. She also says a recent 15-pound weight loss contributed to her streamlined appearance.
Bristol, who?s set to film her own reality tv show in Los Angeles soon, insists she would never get plastic surgery except under extreme conditions.
?I wouldn?t get plastic surgery unless I got in an accident or something terrible and got disfigured,? says Palin.
While skeptics will question Bristol?s claims, ?I am absolutely thrilled with the results,? she gushes. ?I look older, more mature, and don?t have as much of a chubby little baby face!?
But what will happen when she does get older and her face matures naturally. She could morph into another plastic surgery nightmare.
