Water department recovers wedding ring

By Alexandria Autrey

LEHI ? The Lehi Water Department recovered alost wedding ring from the sewer.

The water department ran a snake down two sections of a sewer mainline, washed the ring to a manhole and retrieved it from a sewer.

?I really appreciate the efforts Wes and his crew put into retrieving this very special piece of jewelry. It would have been so easy to simply say ?sorry, ma?am.? As it turned out, a very special memory, that will undoubtedly be the topic of many family reunions, was preserved because of a little extra effort put forth by a group of hard-working employees,? said Todd Munger a Lehi?s Public Works Director.

The wedding ring was flushed down a toilet by a Lehi resident?s young child.

?Over the years we?ve had the opportunity to retrieve personal articles for residents, and it?s always rewarding when we are able to successfully return valuable or sentimental items to someone who is afraid they?ve lost something forever. It?s a good feeling to know that we were able to utilize our training and experience and be of service,? said Weston Winters, a Lehi water department employee.

Most of the daily activities conducted by Lehi?s Water Department are fairly routine in nature, but once in a while Lehi?s water workers are able to make a difference in some residents? lives.
