Spanish wind turbine manufacturer Gamesa has secured a contract from New & Renewable Energy Authority to supply 200MW of turbines for wind energy projects in Egypt.

The company will deliver 100 units of its G80-2.0MW turbine for the power projects in the Gulf of El-Zayt on Egypt's Red Sea coast.

Gamesa will also perform turbine assembly, erection and start-up services and provide operation and maintenance services for five years.

The wind energy projects are financed by multilateral funding from Germany's kfW Development Bank, the European Investment Bank and the European Union through the Neighbourhood Investment Facility.
