Businesses against extending the tolls on the Crescent City Connection will make their case during a news conference this morning outside the bridge's headquarters. More than 130 firms, mainly on the West Bank, are set to discuss their position on why voters should reject a referendum Nov. 6 that would allow the tolls to continue beyond?their?December expiration date.
Voters in Orleans, Jefferson and Plaquemines parishes are being asked to allow the tolls to continue for 20 years. East bank-bound motorists pay 40 cents with a toll tag and a $1 cash to cross the bridge. The tolls generate $21 million annually.
Among the businesses who have signed on to the campaign to end the tolls are: 2380, A Cool, A-1 Appliance & Electronics, A1 Roofing and Waterproofing, A-1 Unlimited, Acadian Carpet Center, Acadian Factory Direct Flooring, Acadian Flooring America, Ahart Electrical Contractors, Air Serv of Jefferson, AJ Properties, Alert Transportation & Louisiana Tour Co., Avondale Self Storage, Big Dawg Home Improvements, C & V Enterprises, Cajun Duct Cleaning and Sanitizing, Coastline Construction Services, CCN Corporation, Century 21 Richard Berry & Associates, Chris Winter, Inc., Comfort Services, Continental Insurance Services, Daily Growth, Danny & Bonnie Gros Seafood, Darren J.
